The author a former police senior investigating officer looks at the death of Guy Gibson on the 19th September 1944 at Steenbergen, Holland.
He looks at the build up to the crash, his career, behaviour, character and the possible causes for his loss. These include enemy action, friendly fire, a technical or structural problem, weather and possible sabotage.
The book presents a new image of Gibson, one that conflicts with that most people know from the Dambusters movie.

This book is the result of a thorough and wide ranging investigation. The author spent many, many months locating witness testimony via official records, newspapers, magazines, their letters pages or from individuals who were never approached by the authorities.
The author also liaised with a local man who's father was one of the first on scene at the crash site. Over the decades since, that man has gathered evidence from numerous witnesses which he kindly allowed the author to use in this account.
Using his investigative expertise as a senior investigating officer and a knowledge of aviation, the author has pieced together what happened and a possible cause. He also considers the possibility of an official cover-up.

Augustine Preucil a Czech pilot fled from his native Czechoslovakia to Poland, France and ultimately England in 1940. He joined the RAFVR and flew Hurricanes before going missing in September 1941. What the British authorities did not know at the time, he was a Gestapo agent and he had stolen his Hurricane - returning to occupied Europe.
Preucil went on to work for the Gestapo as a stool-pigeon, betraying a great number of Czech citizens. He assisted in interrogations of airmen and aligned himself with the SOE traitors who betrayed the Operation Anthropoid paratroopers.
This is a story that is relatively unknown in Britain, the US and other nations. It is a story that is hard to believe but every word is true.....

Tragic accident or UFO conspiracy?
In September 1970 a RAF Lightning fighter and its American pilot Captain William Schaffner went missing on an operation. According to official records, Schaffner took off to intercept a low-flying aircraft as part of an exercise, but to many believe he was intercepting a UFO and is missing to this day as a result of that encounter.
The official version is he was swept away and drowned in the North Sea after escaping his aircraft which ditched off Flamborough Head. He has never been recovered, while his aircraft according to conspiracy theorists had parts missing including its compass.
Was there a UFO and was there a cover up? And where did the UFO claims originate?
